Super Micro Computer did not get a new stock price from the 20 October sales update. The official Nasdaq close on Friday 23 October 2026 was $32.94. The 47 sessions through 31 December 2026 put the bull at $61.64, the base at $35.07, and the bear at $24.08. Those prices are the house distribution on the last 90 daily log returns. Mu is 0.001331492426966009 and sigma is 0.05484173572115777. They are not a broker target.
The raise does not settle the margin. The 20 October exhibit puts gross margin at 12.0 percent to 12.5 percent, versus an August guide of 10.4 percent to 10.8 percent. The 12.25 percent midpoint is 5.25 points under June’s 17.5 percent GAAP rate. David Weigand, Supermicro’s chief financial officer, said on 11 August that the June improvement included contracts deferred into September. The $65.0 billion to $72.0 billion fiscal 2027 sales range was not revised. The $61.64 bull is a business outcome only if November holds that 12.0 percent floor and the rate then rises.

What just happened, and why the obvious reading is wrong
The obvious reading is that a larger September quarter re-rated the stock. The closes did not keep it. The 20 October cash close was $32.47 on volume of 42,353,060. The 8-K was accepted at 16:44:26, so that close printed before the filing reached EDGAR. The timestamp is on the SEC index for accession 0001375365-26-000025.
Wednesday 21 October closed at $35.57, up $3.10, or 9.547274 percent, with a high of $37.45 and volume of 82,415,750. Thursday closed at $33.72, down $1.85, or 5.201012 percent. Friday’s $32.94 is $2.63 under Wednesday, a drop of 7.393871 percent, and only $0.47, or 1.447490 percent, above the pre-filing close. The pop was mostly returned in three sessions.
From 16 October through 22 October the range was $37.45 to $30.92. Friday is $4.51 under that high and $2.02 above that low. The highest close from 1 October 2025 in this window is $58.68 on 8 October 2025, and Friday is $25.74 under it, 43.865031 percent.
Two sessions inside the 90 returns dominate sigma, and both stayed in. On 22 July the close went from $25.50 to $30.56, up 19.843137 percent. On 12 August it went from $31.60 to $37.61, up 19.018987 percent. The file names no cause for 22 July, so none is stated here.
Who is exposed
The largest piece of revenue is unnamed. Weigand said one large data center and cloud customer was 28 percent of fiscal 2026 sales. Nine customers each passed $1 billion, against four the year before. The October risk language says larger customers may concentrate the base, margins may be lower, and sales may be less predictable.
The June mix is the other exposure. Enterprise and channel revenue was $5.6 billion, 50 percent of the quarter, against 28 percent in the prior quarter, up 172 percent from a year earlier. OEM appliance and large data center revenue was $5.5 billion, the other 50 percent, against 72 percent previously, and it fell 26 percent from the prior quarter. AI solutions were approximately 60 percent of June revenue, against more than 80 percent in March. Weigand said the backlog implies more than 80 percent of revenue will be AI-related from here. For the full year, OEM and large data center was 69 percent of sales.
The silicon partners are not that customer. Charles Liang said the company was shipping Nvidia GB300 NVL72 and preparing Vera Rubin, with AMD and Intel platforms alongside. The 23 October post says the Vera Rubin NVL72 rack is now shipping and names product manager Zoran Vujovic. The words are the account’s. FinanceFeeds has a separate report on Nvidia. An earlier FinanceFeeds report covered the $65 billion guide, still $65.0 billion to $72.0 billion in the August exhibit. The co-founder case is a separate news page and is not in this distribution.
What the tape and the filings show
Four columns matter more than one headline range.
| Item | August guide for September | 20 October preliminary | June quarter reported | Fiscal 2027 guide |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Net sales | $14.5 billion to $15.5 billion | $18.5 billion to $19.5 billion | $11.1 billion | $65.0 billion to $72.0 billion, not updated |
| Gross margin | 10.4 percent to 10.8 percent | 12.0 percent to 12.5 percent | 17.5 percent GAAP, 17.6 percent non-GAAP | Not given |
| Earnings per share | GAAP $0.89 to $0.98, non-GAAP $1.01 to $1.10 | Not given | GAAP $1.62, non-GAAP $1.70 | Not given |
The gross-profit dollars are arithmetic, not a company disclosure. The new midpoint is $19.0 billion at 12.25 percent, or $2.3275 billion. The old midpoint is $15.0 billion at 10.6 percent, or $1.59 billion. The difference is $0.7375 billion, and dividing that by $1.59 billion gives 46.383648 percent more gross-profit dollars. The new sales low of $18.5 billion is $3.0 billion above the old high of $15.5 billion. The midpoint raise of $4.0 billion is 26.666667 percent.
June was $11.1 billion at 17.5 percent, or $1.9425 billion. The new midpoint is $0.385 billion higher, 19.819820 percent more dollars, on a rate 5.25 points lower. More sales can produce more gross profit than June without restoring that rate.
The unchanged year midpoint is $68.5 billion. At 12.25 percent that is $8.39125 billion of gross profit. At 17.5 percent it would be $11.9875 billion. The gap of $3.59625 billion is what the margin still has to earn if the year stays in the August range. It is not a share price. Four times the new quarterly midpoint is $76 billion, $4 billion above the $72.0 billion top. The company did not annualize the quarter, and the filing does not lift the year to $72.5 billion.
What Liang and Weigand said, and what 20 October left out
The 11 August exhibit quotes Charles Liang, founder, president, and chief executive of Supermicro. “Our Total AI/IT Solutions strategy continues to deliver strong results, we added several hundred enterprise and other customers in the past year, generated more than $60 billion in new orders, and booked record backlog entering fiscal 2027.” The next sentence is his as well. “As demand accelerates, we are improving profitability through a richer enterprise customer mix and broader adoption of our optimized Data Center Building Block Solutions (DCBBS) architecture.”
The clock on the $60 billion differs by sentence. The filing says the past year. Weigand said the backlog included “over $60 billion in new orders received during Q4 fiscal year ’26, which we expect to fulfill over the coming quarters.” Those orders are not revenue. Fiscal 2026 GAAP net income was $2.2 billion, while operations used $6,809,886 thousand. Weigand rounded that use to $6.8 billion.
His margin sentence changes the 12.0 percent reading. “Gross margins improved by 750 basis points sequentially due to a better-than-anticipated customer and product mix, including the deferral of several contracts from Q4 fiscal year ’26 to Q1 fiscal year ’27, and perhaps the subsequent quarter.” He said that mix was approximately 75 percent of the improvement. He later said, “Yes. So we guided to 10.4 percent to 10.8 percent for September.” October beat that guide. It did not beat the quarter those deferrals had helped.
Liang answered Ananda Baruah of Loop Capital on the same call. “Yes, I mean we will very carefully control our balance between revenue and profitability. As you know, high-volume GPU margin is usually much lower. CPU, storage, IoT, enterprise application, on the other hand, have a higher margin. So we will try to balance between the 2 verticals.”
October leaves four things out. It does not update $65.0 billion to $72.0 billion. It gives no earnings per share, so the August $0.89 to $0.98 GAAP range is not a new guide. It does not repeat the board sentence. The auditor has not audited, reviewed, compiled, or performed procedures on the preliminary figures. The call, at 5 p.m. EST on 3 November, comes after Tuesday’s cash close.
Cash, the board review, and the auditor
The August release puts cash at $7.5 billion and bank debt plus convertible notes at $8.7 billion. The cash line is $7,521,474 thousand. Weigand called net debt $1.2 billion. Inventories are $12,895,949 thousand, and he said the stock was $12.9 billion, up from $11.1 billion at the March quarter’s end. Cash used in operations and the inventory stock are different lines. This piece does not mix them.
Weigand said June raised $5.6 billion after expenses, $1.4 billion of common stock and $4.2 billion of mandatory convertible preferred. Liang said there was then no current plan to use the at-the-market program. The August guide assumed 745 million GAAP diluted shares and 761 million non-GAAP shares. June’s weighted averages were 705,001 thousand and 721,281 thousand. October updates neither figure, and neither figure is a market capitalization.
The board review is still open in the August forward-looking section. “In addition, as the Company has disclosed, the Board is conducting an independent review of certain transactions in connection with export-control issues. The outcome of that investigation could affect our forecasts, these preliminary results and prior period results.” Weigand told Baruah, “As to your second question, Ananda, we expect to provide an update shortly, and that’s all we can share on this call.” October does not give the update. Nothing saved here says the review has closed. The 3 November call is the next scheduled time they might speak, not a promise that they will.
The auditor has not audited, reviewed, compiled, or performed any procedures on the preliminary revenues and gross margins. Adjustments may still appear. Final results may vary. A path that treats $19 billion and 12.25 percent as audited facts is using a document that says they are not.
The bull, the base, and the bear
Mu is 0.001331492426966009. Sigma, with divisor n minus 1, is 0.05484173572115777, on 90 log returns ending 23 October. N is 47: five sessions from 26 through 30 October, 20 November weekdays after skipping Thanksgiving on 26 November, and 22 December weekdays after skipping Christmas on 25 December. The early closes on 27 November and 24 December count. The square root of 47 is 6.855654600401044. N times mu is 0.06258014406740242. Sigma times that square root is 0.37597599779073354. One and a half times that quantity is 0.5639639966861002.
The base is $32.94 times e to the power of N times mu, $35.06725779681003, rounded half up to $35.07. The bull prints $61.635121698397704, rounded to $61.64. The bear prints $24.077838931078656, rounded to $24.08. Drift is positive, so the no-drift override is not used. That override rounds to $57.90, within $1 of the published $58 bull. $61.64 is $2.36 from $64 and $3.64 from $58, and $24.08 is not within $1 of $19 or $15, so the pair does not collide with the 21 August or 24 July titles.
Ten sessions, through Friday 6 November, give $43.30, $33.38, and $28.07. That path is not the title. This is not financial advice. The distribution stretches the recent daily log returns over 47 sessions. It is not a recommendation to buy or sell.
| Case | Price | Versus the $32.94 close | What has to be true |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bull | $61.64 | Up $28.70, or 87.128112 percent | Forty-seven sessions deliver the drift plus 1.5 standard deviations, and the 12.0 percent to 12.5 percent margin survives the deferred contracts and then rises. A multiple on the sales raise can move without that. The $3.59625 billion gross-profit gap is not a share price. |
| Base | $35.07 | Up $2.13, or 6.466302 percent | Only the drift continues. The base sits under both moving averages. It fails if November cuts the preliminary sales range, or if the July and August jumps do not repeat. |
| Bear | $24.08 | Down $8.86, or 26.897389 percent | The same drift minus one standard deviation. A margin near 10.4 percent, a cut to the $65.0 billion floor, or a board outcome that hits forecasts would be the business version. The formula only needs downside volatility. |
The bull sits above both averages and the base sits below them. No broker target replaces this distribution.
What happens next
The first test is Tuesday 3 November 2026 at 5 p.m. EST. The call can replace the preliminary sales and margin, add the earnings figure October withheld, and move or keep $65.0 billion to $72.0 billion. The cash close that can price it is Wednesday 4 November. For $61.64 to be a business outcome, the finished margin has to clear 12.0 percent to 12.5 percent and show a path up. A sales beat with the margin back at 10.4 percent would be a multiple, not that path.
The second test is the averages. Both $38.70225 and $38.5839 are overhead. Closes back through them before 31 December would repair the give-back from $37.45. A close under Friday’s $32.73 low, then under $30.92, is the nearby failure, not the $24.08 bear.
The third date is 31 December 2026. The 6 November checkpoint of $43.30, $33.38, and $28.07 is a different question. If 4 November cuts the preliminary sales range, $35.07 stops describing the old drift. A higher year guide would still leave $61.64 as a volatility path until the margin rate itself moves.
Frequently asked questions
Where do the sessions through 31 December 2026 put a fresh bull and bear from the latest official SMCI close, and what does the margin line still have to do for that bull to be a business outcome rather than a multiple?
The bull is $61.64, the base is $35.07, and the bear is $24.08, from Friday’s $32.94 close, and the margin still has to hold 12.0 percent to 12.5 percent and then rise. The count is 47 sessions. October beat a 10.4 percent to 10.8 percent guide and did not match June’s 17.5 percent GAAP rate. The $65.0 billion to $72.0 billion year was left unchanged. Until the rate moves, $61.64 is the volatility path, not a completed margin result.
Is 12.0 percent to 12.5 percent a recovery versus the June quarter’s 17.5 percent?
No. The 12.25 percent midpoint is 5.25 percentage points under the June GAAP rate of 17.5 percent. Weigand said approximately 75 percent of the June improvement came from mix, including contracts deferred into September. October is better than his 10.4 percent to 10.8 percent guide for that quarter. It is not a return to the rate those deferrals helped. Gross-profit dollars can still rise because the sales midpoint rose by $4.0 billion.
Are the title prices street targets?
No. The title is the house distribution on the last 90 daily log returns, with N of 47, rounded half up to $61.64, $35.07, and $24.08. A broker target would be a separate figure, and none is used here. The pair is not the older FinanceFeeds pairs of $64 and $19 or $58 and $15. The bull is $2.36 from $64 and $3.64 from $58. A no-drift bull would have rounded to $57.90, so the positive drift was kept.
Did Friday keep the 21 October pop?
No. Wednesday 21 October closed at $35.57, up $3.10, or 9.547274 percent, from $32.47. The filing was accepted at 16:44:26 on 20 October, after that cash close. Friday’s $32.94 is $2.63 under Wednesday, a drop of 7.393871 percent, and only $0.47 above the pre-filing close. Volume on the pop was 82,415,750 shares, against 29,728,040 on Friday. The re-rating did not stay in the official close.
What did the board and the auditor not do?
The August exhibit says the board is reviewing certain export-control transactions, and that the outcome could affect forecasts and prior periods. Weigand told Ananda Baruah of Loop Capital to expect an update shortly and that the call would not go further. October does not close the review. The auditor has not audited, reviewed, compiled, or performed procedures on the preliminary revenue and gross margin. The company says final results may differ.
What would make the base of $35.07 the wrong description?
The base is only the drift, $32.94 times e to the power of 47 times mu. It is wrong if November cuts the $18.5 billion to $19.5 billion range, or if later sessions stop resembling 22 July and 12 August. Both averages, $38.70225 and $38.5839, sit above $35.07. A close under $30.92 would be a nearer failure.
