U.S. economy added 187,000 jobs in August, more than was expected

The U.S. economy added 187,000 jobs in August, better than the anticipated 162,000 jobs expected. It marks a rebound from the previous month’s modest gain of 159,000.Health care and professional and business services, which include accounting, engineering and computer programming jobs, saw the biggest growth in the month. The manufacturing, construction and retail industries saw more modest gains. The unemployment rate remained unchanged at 3.9 percent. Wage growth also continued to climb with average hourly earnings increasing 0.4 percent over July.
