Trump to skip GOP debate in Iowa, hold competing town hall

President Donald Trump announced that he will skip the Iowa Republican Party’s presidential debate on Jan. 28 and instead hold a competing town hall event.

Trump had previously criticized Fox News’ decision to air the Iowa GOP’s debate, and accused the organization of bias.

In a tweet, the president announced that he would be holding a competing event in Iowa on the same night as the debate, and “countless members of the record-setting number of online viewers” can join to watch.

The event will be broadcast live on multiple networks, according to the tweet, but further details have yet to be released. The town hall will be held at an undisclosed location.

The Iowa GOP debate is scheduled for 8 p.m. local time on Jan. 28, and the competing Trump town hall is expected to air at the same time.
