Starbucks has unveiled a plan to add 17,000 new locations globally by 2030. This plan is part of Starbucks’ ongoing commitment to grow its international business and provide customers with more convenient access to its products and services. The company plans to open up to 10,000 of these locations in the US, 4,000 locations in China, and 3,000 in other international markets.
Most of the new locations will be shared-space locations, including cafés, convenience stores, grocers, and retail stores. The expansion will also include drive-thrus, to-go stores, and delivery-only operations. The company anticipates that these will create more jobs in countries where it is expanding.
In addition to this new expansion strategy, Starbucks will also continue to focus on sustainability initiatives. This includes reducing plastic waste, transitioning to renewable energy, and expanding its compostable cup program. The company is also taking steps toward a more equitable and sustainable food system, including increasing sourcing from responsible farmers that pay fair wages and support the environment.
