Former UN ambassador Nikki Haley has publicly disagreed with former President Donald Trump on his proposal regarding in vitro fertilization (IVF), showing an uncommon break with the former president who is still largely beloved by the Republican rank-and-file. Without providing specific details about the nature of the disagreement over IVF, it appears Haley might differ with Trump’s views on the emotional and physical stress involved in the IVF process, access to the treatment, or ethical concerns.
Meanwhile, she has reportedly said she’s “on standby” for a political campaign. Although Haley has previously noted that she would support Trump if he decided to run again in 2024, her public disagreement could signal growing independence from Trump’s influence within the Republican party. Haley is also widely believed to be considering her own run for president, although she has said that she will not run if Trump does.
