Hunter Biden pardon raises new questions over 5th Amendment ‘loophole’
if he runs again
The Michigan Supreme Court has ruled that President Donald Trump will be allowed to appear on the ballot in Michigan’s 2024 Republican presidential primary if he chooses to run again. In a 5-2 ruling, the Court dismissed a complaint brought by three Michigan citizens, who alleged that Trump was ineligible for ballot placement due to conduct that disqualified him from holding office under the Constitution. According to the Court, the matter was not a dispute that it was empowered to resolve, as the question of a candidate’s “qualifications for office under the U.S. Constitution is a matter for Congress to decide.” As such, the Court concluded that it lacked jurisdiction to hear the complaint and dismissed it.
