McDonald’s announced in August 2020 that it plans to phase out self-service soda stations at all of its company-operated restaurants in the US by the end of 2021. Its decision is part of a larger restaurant-wide initiative to provide customers with a simplified and modernized experience. The elimination of self-service soda stations applies to all McDonald’s drinks including soda, smoothies, shakes, and slushies.
