House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s launch of an impeachment inquiry against President Joe Biden was met with a mixed reaction from McCarthy and other Republican leaders. McCarthy called the decision to pursue impeachment “shaky,” noting that “Article I lays out a clear and specific process for the House of Representatives to follow.” He also expressed concerns about the lack of due process and questioned why the House was racing to impeach without an investigation. McCarthy went on to suggest that there are other avenues that can be taken to address the issues surrounding Biden. He noted that Congress can conduct an investigation and review legislation that deals with the issue, or simply express its displeasure through a censure.
