Democrat Bob Casey concedes Pennsylvania Senate race to Dave McCormick, ending recount
Live Nation, the world’s largest live entertainment company, is facing criticism by a group of senators accusing it of not fulfilling its promise to stop using hidden ticket fees.
In August of 2019 Live Nation promised “fans will now know the full price of their ticket at the beginning of their purchase journey.” However, the Senate Commerce Committee launched an investigation into Live Nation over claims it was still charging hidden fees on ticket sales.
The senators voiced concerns that these fees were price gouging and violating consumer protection laws. Live Nation, for its part, denies any wrongdoing and maintains that its fees were compliant with applicable laws.
The senators called on the Justice Department to investigate whether Live Nation was engaging in anti-competitive practices. In response, Live Nation said it was committed to providing transparency to fans and had made improvements to its website. It also offered to meet with the senators to discuss their concerns.
Both sides now appear to be headed for a legal showdown over hidden ticket fees. No matter the outcome, fans can expect a more transparent ticket buying experience.
