Israeli president defends airstrikes in Gaza, killing Hamas operatives: ‘We are fighting terror’

Israel’s President Reuven Rivlin has defended the airstrikes against Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip, which killed several militants. In a statement addressing the situation, President Rivlin said: “This is not a struggle between two equal sides, this is an untenable conflict between a terrorist organisation that has declared war on the entire state of Israel and our ability to defend the safety of the citizens of our country and the integrity of its borders”. He went on to assure that the Israeli Defense Forces are doing everything in their power to limit any civilian casualties, and that the operation will continue until Israel is safe and secure.
