Hunter Biden pardon raises new questions over 5th Amendment ‘loophole’

According to a transcript of the House Oversight Committee interview with John M. Gore, the principal deputy assistant attorney general at the Department of Justice, Weiss was required to get permission from his division in order to bring charges against Hunter Biden.
Gore stated, “When a prosecutor is interested in initiating an investigation, of course that prosecutor needs approval from the division, depending on the situation, depending on the facts and circumstances there. It’s possible a prosecutor wouldn’t need prior approval.”
When asked if Weiss needed approval from the division before bringing charges against Hunter Biden, Gore answered in the affirmative, “Yes. I believe that he had to have approval from the division. … [He] had to have approval from the division before initiating an investigation and seeking charges against Hunter Biden.”
