Hunter Biden pardon raises new questions over 5th Amendment ‘loophole’
Democrats sought to shield Representative Rashida Tlaib from a House censure vote over her anti-Israel remarks, but their efforts ultimately failed. The House voted on July 17, 2019 on a resolution, proposed by Representative Foxx (R-NC), that denounced Tlaib for “encouraging and supporting boycotts of Israel” and “using exaggerations and falsehoods to demonize Israel.” Democrats offered a counter proposal that condemned anti-Semitism without mentioning Tlaib by name, allowing them to support the measure without voting to condemn their colleague. However, the House overwhelmingly rejected the Democrats’ counter-proposal and voted to pass the Republicans’ resolution in a 398-17 vote.
