As government shutdown looms just days away, no agreement is in sight

With just days to go before government funding expires, there is still no agreement in sight between Republicans and Democrats over how the next fiscal year budget should look like. The two sides are taking conflicting positions on funding for a border wall, health care and other high-profile spending items. President Donald Trump has said that he will not sign a bill without funding for the wall. Democrats have firmly rejected the idea. With Capitol Hill stuck in an impasse, the deadline for a new funding agreement is quickly looming – unless there’s a last-minute compromise – government shutdown is set to begin at midnight this Friday.
